As a young Sarfaroshi, Kuldeep has done exemplary work to bring Muslims and Hindus together in a village where the communal relationship was fraught. Lissad was at the forefront of religious violence that engulfed the Shamli region in 2013. Muslims had mostly fled the village. This year, Kuldeep invited the one Muslim family that remained, to his home for Eid. In making this big leap of faith amid simmering tensions between communities, Kuldeep set an example that others in his village admire him for.
