The Sarfaroshi Foundation is a movement. A collective. And a collective only runs when everyone takes ownership of it. With that in mind, we at the staff office encouraged our community leaders to hold their own and hold regular weekly meetings, with or without the founder members such as Ashvani and Revati being present to conduct it.
This we are happy to report has now become a weekly event. Many of our community leaders call their own meetings now on Sunday mornings most often.
The primary focus at these meetings was health. We’ve had big fat health camps across eight villages. But people fall ill when they fall ill. Camps are a one-time event, mainly to demonstrate what can be done. Now we have to take this to the next level. Getting the local village level primary health centres to function. That was top of the agenda at our August meets.
The right to basic health care is fundamental to our existence and must be accessed by every citizen. If it’s broken, then we must fix it. Fixing the primary health system doesn’t just allow everyone to avail of free medicines and diagnosis. It also enables us to put our lives back on track and fight for our rights, one primary health centre at a time. As a collective, as one.
