A campaign for unity<\/h2><\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]We had been talking about the need for a cross-cultural solidarity amongst our people, at every Sarfaroshi meeting. We needed to demonstrate how this made practical sense. In times of COVID, free medical aid was an absolute dire need, especially in a place where the public health system was in tatters. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”168″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”169″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]So we ran a public health campaign across villages, across all five administrative blocks and every community of Shamli district<\/b>. We had a one-point demand from the district administration. We wanted free medical checks and medicines with the setting up of village medical camps. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”744″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space]
<\/div>
Because our demand was made through a publicly run campaign that we ran across 64 villages <\/b>and eventually collected 6,111 signatures, <\/b>we succeeded.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The government agreed to set up free health camps for people.<\/b><\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space height=”60px”][vc_single_image image=”740″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]And the district magistrate Jasjit Kaur inaugurated the first camp along with the chief medical officer Sanjay Aggarwal.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Our camps and our Sarfaroshi leaders were written about in the local newspapers, sending the message across the district loud and clear \u2013 a united front is the most effective way to be.
